From June 1986 to May 1987 worked under Prof. Luigi Tavazzi at Veruno Medical Centre (Novara) studying “The effects of mental stress on the cardiovascular system of patients with ischemic heart disease”.
In 1989, local PI of the multicentric GISSI 2 study receiving a grant from the “Istituto Mario Negri”.

Since 1988, Assistant Professor of Cardiology Department of Policlinico A. Gemelli, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Rome, Italy. Previously under the directorship of Prof. Ugo Manzoli and Prof. Attilio Maseri, currently Prof. Filippo Crea.
From 1997 to 2013, part of a special dedicated team providing Angioplasty and other Haemodynamic services under the supervision of Prof. Giovanni Schiavoni.
Since 2013, head of Interventional Cardiology Unit, Cardiovascular Sciences Department, Fondazione Policlinico Universitario A. Gemelli IRCCS, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, performing each year approximately 3.300 percutaneous procedures (1.100 PCI, 100 TAVI, 10 to 15 Mitral Valve percutaneous repair, 25 percutaneous MCS, 50 Carotid stenting, 20 PFO/ASD/VSD closures and 50 peripheral vascular revascularizations).
From 2020, head of Cardiology Intervention and Invasive Diagnostics UOC.

Research Activities
Dr. Trani is active in clinical research in particular in the field of the treatment of coronary and peripheral artery diseases as well as structural heart disease. He is involved in several clinical trials, frequently acting as local PI.
